Brighton based Create won south east on-line business of the year in the FSB Worldpay business awards 2017. They provide an easy-to-use platform that enables small businesses to create websites with no coding needed. The company was set up 15 years ago by Simon and Rebecca Kimber. What started as a small idea has now turned into a healthy and profitable company that has enabled over 30,000 small businesses to get on-line and create their own, successful websites.
Create’s Rebecca Kimber said, “we chose the Online Business of the Year category because we believe in doing everything we can to make it easy for others to get online. We are more than just a company, we are a hub of friendly advice, inspiration and education creating a digital community of small business owners.”
She added, “the awards experience was fantastic, and we were delighted to win. Everything we’ve worked so hard on in the last 15 years played a part in the success. It is great to be recognised for what we’ve achieved so far, and this will further enhance our brand. We also believe our honesty, authenticity and transparency proved a factor in our win.”
With a team of 18, Create is tiny compared to the San Francisco start-ups who are their closest competitors. “Our core goal is to make it easy for people to make a website, but we also want to help businesses that want to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, to be so.” said Rebecca.
Create is expanding rapidly, with ambitious growth plans in the UK, Europe and beyond. Rebecca highlights research that says 59% of UK small businesses are without a website, adding, “we firmly believe that getting online is worthwhile: it can increase brand awareness, your customer base, your sales, and your bottom line.”
