It was best bib and tucker in the North East this week with the presentation of the 2019 FSB North East Regional Awards at The Sage in Gateshead.
A packed audience was hosted by presenter Jo Pickard and saw 11 awards presented with 10 of the winners now heading for the National Finals in May. All of the finalists were welcomed by our overall award sponsors FSB Insurance and our event sponsors Gateshead College.
First out the hat was the International Award going to Crafters Companion UK. They supply a vast range of products to creative people. Next up we saw Avid Technology pick up the Business & Product Innovation Award, this was kindly sponsored by Durham University. SageTech Machinery then stepped forward to receive the Micro Business Award, this one sponsored by WorldPay UK. Then before some well earned lunch we saw Green Energy UK collecting the Ethical Award.
Once plates were tidied away it was back to the Awards with Flame Heating UK picking up the Scale Up Award, sponsored by Mincoffs Solicitors. Giving a passionate acceptance speech about the importance of local independent booksellers Drake Book Shop from Stockton on Tees collected the Family Business Award, sponsored by NBSL.
One of the most important awards came next and it saw Chloe Hall of Bumble & Bloom Media crowned as our Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Then before dessert was served Leda Transport were delighted to be announced as our Start Up Award winner, this one sponsored by the North East Growth Hub.
After a delicious lemon posset we came to the final 3 awards of the day. Bright & Beautiful walking away with Employer of the Year, sponsored by Business Durham.
Then Green Shift Education collected the Community Award, the only one not to go to London, this was sponsored by Newcastle University. Suddenly we were at the last award of a fantastic day and this saw Ocucon Tech pick up the Digital Innovation Award, sponsored by Gateshead College.
There was just time to thank all of our sponsors and presenters, congratulate, once again, all our finalists and winners and wish everyone a safe journey home.
The FSB Awards are growing every year, we’d be delighted to see even more entries for 2020, entry details will be available in the summer.
