The FSB were delighted to co-host a joint event with FSB members, Sohost, in the heart of Soho Central London in early September.
The event was aimed at politicians and business coming together to discuss the issues affecting small firms in central London – most notably the increases in commercial rents and business rates.
We were delighted to be joined by Sir Keir Starmer, MP for Holborn and St.Pancras and Shadow Secretary of State for Brexit.
Keir heard from small firms in central London about their concerns and agreed to continue a dialogue with FSB and Sohost about concerns and how he could engage with London MPs and Councillors to start to build up a pro-London argument in Parliament – and focus on the costs of doing business in London – when compared to other parts of the country.
The event coincided with the FSB launching a piece of research on the costs of space in the capital. FSB London Policy Chair, Sue Terpilowski OBE, spoke on the panel and answered a host of challenging questions.
The evening ended with a networking opportunity and a chance to sample some of the amazing Cheese selections on offer at the Soho Dairy which operates in the Berwick Street Market [outside Sohost].
